ARTIST STATEMENT

The rolling hills and natural beauty of Northern California, where I was born and raised, deeply influence the aesthetic of my jewelry. I draw much of my inspiration from the natural forms that surround me—flora, fauna, and the cycles of nature form the foundation of my work, which I often construct using principles of sacred geometry. Although I discovered jewelry making at the age of ten, it wasn't until my late twenties that I pursued it professionally. After earning my BFA from the Jewelry/Metal Arts program at California College of the Arts, I now work from my studio in Ashland, Oregon, creating jewelry that moves seamlessly from everyday to statement, including one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces.

What draws me to jewelry is its unique power as wearable art and my love for making shiny things that bring out the beauty in people. I see each piece as a conduit for the wearer's inner radiance—accessories that give people that extra something to feel confident, grounded, luminous, or simply more ready to face their day. My signature Imaginal Cell Collection honors the monarch butterfly and the transformative process of not knowing, deconstructing the geometric forms of iconic monarch wings into unexpected patterns that celebrate nature's symmetry. It's a self-portrait of sorts, reflecting my belief that sometimes we must let go of traditional constructs to discover something new and beautiful within ourselves. This philosophy shapes everything I create.

CTD began with a vision of creating unexpected jewelry for collectors with a discerning eye while offering timeless beauty and a comfortable fit. From my first commissioned line for Jack London Historic State Park's Valley of the Moon Collection to my current gem-forward sculptural pieces showcased in art shows, each design carries a sense of story and intention. You can find Camille Torres Designs in galleries throughout the United States and online, where every piece serves the same purpose: creating conduits for people's inner awesome.
