Custom jewelry is where my heart truly lights up—it's like solving a beautiful puzzle where every piece matters. I love the collaborative process of bringing someone's vision to life, whether it's capturing a milestone moment or translating a feeling into wearable art. There's something magical about diving deep into the story behind each piece, understanding what makes it meaningful, and then weaving all those elements together into something that feels perfectly, authentically them. Every custom project is a journey of discovery, and I find such joy in creating pieces that feel like they were always meant to exist, carrying forward the legacy of life's most precious moments.
Jewelry lasts forever. Literally. Copper jewelry as old as 5000 BCE is still in existence. I love the idea of our current baubles and jewels being found 1000s of years from today. In this future world, our contemporary jewelry will still be creating stories, carrying the legacy of your life's most precious moments into the ages.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BESPOKE AND CUSTOM?
Bespoke is the process of us designing a piece together from scratch. In this process, I will work with you to create the perfect design that reflects your vision. Because of the attention and time I will bring to your project, bespoke work has a minimum cost of $1,200. I am also happy to repurpose heirloom gems (see guidelines below).
Custom is when we re-imagine or modify a design I currently offer. Whether you want to add gemstones, change the finish, or repurpose the basic design components, I am happy to fine-tune the piece to perfectly fit your style. Custom pricing is based on materials and time, but is somewhat reflected by the price of the original design.
How the Custom and Bespoke Process Work
design
Based on our first discussion, I will design a few options, and in a second discussion, we will tweak these pieces or move forward with your favorite choice, based on your preference.
actualize
To begin the building of your piece, a 50% deposit is needed.
For more complex designs, I may create a mock-up to ensure a perfect fit and allow for any necessary adjustments. This mock-up can be mailed to you or reviewed in person for your final approval.
It's time to bring your piece to life! Depending on the design's requirements, I may use various methods such as fabrication, lost wax casting, or occasionally CAD rendering. Sometimes, a combination of these techniques is necessary. Whatever the project demands, I'll ensure your vision becomes a reality.
finish
Once your piece is finished, your jewelry will be mailed to you.
Your heirloom will arrive beautifully presented in a jewelry box that complements its design.
Guidelines
I work in gold and silver. I currently do not work with platinum.
PROCESSING TIME
Once the deposit is received and the creation of your piece begins, Custom jewelry typically takes 4-6 weeks, while Bespoke jewelry may require 6-8 weeks. These timelines depend on design complexity, my workload, and supply availability. I strive to complete your piece as early as possible, especially for specific events. We'll discuss the timeline, and I'll keep you updated throughout the process.
REPURPOSING GEMSTONES
I am happy to repurpose gems from your jewelry collection or heirlooms you may want to modify. However, for the safety of your gem, I only remove diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and spinel. If the gemstone is loose, there is a wider variety of what I can work with. We will discuss any gemstones you may want to use during our initial consultation. I usually am only willing to work with gems that have a Mohs scale hardness of 8 or above, though sometimes I’m willing to make exceptions. A quick Google search will let you know the hardness of your gem.
The removal of gemstones from existing jewelry is $100 per hour, and I work within 15-minute increments. So, for example, an hour and 15 minutes will be billed at $125. Please note that the metal setting of the piece from which the gems are removed may get mottled or damaged.
To schedule an appointment, please email me with your basic concept. If you are inspired by pieces of jewelry or you have photos, please provide links and photos after I have responded. This will ensure your email is not sent to SPAM. I will usually respond within 24 - 48 hours.
I look forward to connecting with you! ~Camille
