Two Sisters is a handcrafted custom oak tree barrette, hand-pierced from layered copper, brass, and sterling silver, a nature inspired hair accessory built from two intertwining trees that seem to grow directly into the metal. The design began with an image a client brought to me: two oak trees in her sister's yard that had grown so close over the years their trunks and branches merged into one, a pair she had started calling "the Sisters."

I cut the intertwining roots, branches, and leaves by hand, then individually shaped and soldered each piece to weave, organic and asymmetric, across a brushed sterling silver base, worked together until pulling them apart feels nearly impossible. This handcrafted mixed metal barrette sits on a French barrette mechanism in steel, chosen for the tension and longevity daily wear demands, since her sister wears barrettes every day.

Left to its natural patina, the metal will weather and shift over time, the same slow aging that lets real oak trees grow together season after season. Handcrafted in recycled sterling silver, copper, brass, and steel, this custom oak tree barrette measures approximately 5 x 1.5 inches, sized to secure a full ponytail or low bun as an everyday hair accessory.
